Pride Shine Despite Weather at Pioneer Open
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – On a cold and wintery Saturday on the campus of UW-Platteville, the Clarke University track and field program saw three event titles and seven top three finishes at the Pioneer Open.
Despite the weather, the Pride turned in a number of personal bests on the day.
Blake Willis competed in two events at the meet, putting up personal bests in each, including a triple jump mark of 12.34m (40' 6") that won him the event. In the 100 meters, Willis clocked in at a time of 12.36.
Kole Haverly clocked 2:03.46 to win the 800 meters, while also anchoring an event-winning team of James Vandun, David Jones and Timothy Miller in the 4x400 relay. The relay group narrowly edged out Platteville by just under a second.
Clarie Ronnebaum ran 19:21.85 third in the 5000 meters. Rory Bicker, competing in the same event, finished two spots behind in fifth with a time of 19:54.23. Ronnebaum also competed in the javelin, where she placed fifth after hitting 29.18m (95' 9").
Sydney Norman fell just short of setting a new personal best after clearing 1.48m (4' 10.25") in the high jump. Norman, a sophomore out of Fulton, Ill., cleared 1.54m (5' 0.5") at last year's Mustang Invitational.

The Pride will return to action on April 9 at the Minnesota State Multis in Mankato, Minn.
