Pride Wrap Up Competition at UW-Platteville Invitational
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Clarke University Pride track and field teams wrapped up competition at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday with 11 top-10 finishes.
On the men's side, Kole Haverly set a new personal best in the 800-meter race after finishing at 2:03.12. Daniel Miller took 10th in the 3000-meter race with a time of 9:46.29.
Over at the long jump, James Vandun cleared 20' 6.25" (6.25m), placing the sophomore out of Racine, Wis., seventh in the event. Blake Willis took third in the triple jump after hitting a mark of 37' 10" (11.52m).
On the women's side, Rory Bickler set a new PR with a time of 5:32.50, placing the sophomore fourth. Bickler also competed as the last leg of the 4x400-meter relay team, which placed sixth at a time of 4:43.86. Claire Ronnebaum placed sixth in the mile race with a time of 5:46.32.
Over at the 3000-meter race, Mariana Mercado took third with a time of 12:31.98, which stands as her highest finish in the event this season. Sydney Norman placed in the top-four of the high jump for the second time this season after taking fourth with a mark of 4' 9" (1.45m).
Freshman Emma Grant took fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 9' 10" (3.00m). Rounding out Clarkies in the top-10 was Samantha Kane and Addie Hickey, who took seventh and 10th in the weight throw, respectively. Kane threw for 43' 9.25" (13.34m), while Hickey tossed for 41' 5.25" (12.63m).
Up next, the Pride will return for the Heart of America Indoor Championships, held Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19 in Maryville, Mo.
