Pride drop rematch against Culver-Stockton 3-0

CANTON, Mo. - In their final road match before the 2024 regular season finale, the Clarke University women's volleyball team fell by a 3-0 final score against Culver-Stockton College on Tuesday night.

In their second match against the Wildcats of the 2024 season, CU would drop the three-set match by similar scores as their Sept. 24 meeting as this Oct. 15 matchup finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-17 in Charles Field House.

Both sides would come close to giving their opponent about as many points in the first and third sets as they would score themselves with the Pride combining for 19 errors and just 14 kills over 64 swings in those sets while CSC had 17 errors and 23 kills in 70 swings.

The second set was better from an efficiency standpoint but Culver-Stockton was able to put away more points via kills and aces with 12 kills and only four errors while adding six aces as Clarke had their only hitting percentage above .000 in the second but only produced eight kills and didn't get any aces of their own to match the Wildcats.

Leading Culver-Stockton in hitting percentage were Faith Hopgood and Abby Godwin as both finished at .375 or better with Godwin leading all players in the match with nine kills on 18 swings with only one error for a .444 hitting percentage and Hopgood had five kills and two errors on eight attempts for a .375.

Keely Colyer had one of her more efficient performances of late, going 6-for-16 with three errors for a .188 but unfortunately for the Pride, none of the other front row players with over six attempts hit above .100 with the middle combination of Kaelyn Minich and Kelsey NeCollins combining to go 6-for-11 with three errors.

Clarke women's volleyball will be home for the remainder of October for six-straight matches in the Kehl Center starting with a Friday night match against Graceland University for a 7:00 p.m. CT scheduled first serve.
