Bohanan reaches 1,000-dig milestone and Watters powers offense in Pride's double sweep Friday

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Returning to their home floor for their second tournament hosting duties of the season, the Clarke Univeristy women's volleyball team was able to pull off a pair of 3-0 sweep wins over Hannibal-LaGrange University and Haskell University on Friday night.

The numbers in each match had similar results by the end of each three-set tilt with CU earning a 25-18, 25-13, and 25-22 win over the Trojans and the following that up with a 25-11, 25-17, and 25-12 win over HU in the finale.

Highlighting the day was the second-straight match where an individual milestone was reached for the Pride women's volleyball program as senior libero/defensive specialist Rylie Bohanan became just the ninth player in progran history to reach 1,000 digs in a career, hitting the number exactly by the end of the match against HLGU with her 11-dig performance.

Bohanan's feat comes just six days after head coach Chris Miron reached his 300th career win leading the program in Clarke's 3-2 win over Goshen in Indiana last weekend, making Miron just the second head coach in any sport in the history of Clarke Athletics to reach 300 total wins.

Leading each match in digs, Bohanan followed up her 11 digs with 12 more against Haskell as sophomore outside hitter Maya Watters matched that defensive effort by leading each match in kills, first with 10 against the Trojans then adding a 13-for-18 performance against HU where she only had one hitting error for a career-high .667 hitting percentage.

Clarke's setting combo of sophomores Kortney Harms and Mia Jaeger produced consistent results as they both tied for the team-high with 13 assists in the day's opener then Harms would have a match-high 16 assist while Jaeger added 11 against Haskell.

Harms was nearly able to finish with a triple-double in each match, finishing the HLGU match with those 13 assists, nine kills, and nine digs, then coming up two kills shy of the triple-double against HU with a 16-assist, 10-dig double-double to finish with eight kills and matching the .667 hitting percentage from Watters to tie for the team lead.

Pride women's volleyball will wrap up their weekend with two more matches on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. CT starting with a rematch against Hannibal-LaGrange then finishing off the tournament with a match against York University.
