Pride fall in three sets on the road to Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa - In a rematch of a competitive five-set tilt back in early September, the Clarke University women's volleyball team dropped their second match of the season against Graceland University 3-0 on the road on Friday evening.

The Pride put up a strong fight in the third set, getting to a 24-21 advantage at a point away from set point but Graceland would score three-straight to force extra points as those extra points didn't go on for very long as it was a 26-24 match-clinching win for the Yellowjackets after opening the match with 25-19 and 25-18 set wins in the first two.

GU held most statistical advantages, especially in one of the most predictive stat categories in hitting percentage as Clarke finished just above even with a .009 team percentage compared to the .138 that Graceland hit for in the match.

Brenna Crabtree finished with the match-high at 13 kills but also had nine errors for just a .100 hitting percentage as quantity and quality came from Allison Long's 10 kills on just 20 swings with only two errors for a .400 hitting percentage in the match.

For Clarke, no player had more than four kills on the attack as Kortney Harms finished with the team-high in that department as Jessica Schaad, Rachel Haubert, Lily Himmelmann, and Kelsey NeCollins all had three kills.

Digs went the way of the Yellowjackets as well as they finished with 71 on the night led by a strong 28 digs from Shelby Jabour with Hailey Kauweloa also putting up double digits at 12 digs on the night.

The Pride had a pair of 16-dig performances as Rylie Bohanan continues her streak of double digit digs, now at five-straight matches and now 17 total on the season. The second player for CU at 16 digs was setter Mia Jaeger as she also added 12 assists for the first double-double of the freshman's early collegiate career.

Clarke women's volleyball will remain west and head over the border to Nebraska for a Saturday afternoon matchup against Peru State College with a first serve slated for 2:00 p.m. CT.
