Pride fall in straight sets to open weekend tournament

MARSHALL, Mo. - Kicking off a three-match weekend at the home of a conference foe, the Clarke University women's volleyball team opened up with a 3-0 loss to Southwestern College on Friday night.

The Builders took all three sets by similar 25-19, 25-18, 25-18 scores as they limited unforced errors in all areas with just 12 attack errors, six service errors, and two ball-handling errors on the night while finishing at a .264 hitting percentage compared to CU's .075 for the match.

Southwestern's Daci Stover and KaSandra Lyons combined for 15 kills and just three errors on 39 swings to lead the offensive charge while Sophie Wicker and Avery Riedel both had double digit digs with 12 and 10 respectively.

For the Pride, Jessica Schaad and Maya Watters tied for the taem lead with six kills apiece while Rachel Haubert added five with Kortney Harms making her Pride debut at setter to finish with a 22-assist and 12-dig double-double and Rylie Bohanan added 11 digs for her night.

Clarke women's volleyball will look to bounce back with a two-match Saturday slate to wrap up the Missouri Valley College hosted tournament with the Pride facing off against Tabor College and Friends University at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CT respectively.
