Pride's 2022 season comes to a close in 3-0 defeat to Mount Mercy
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The final match of the 2022 season for the Clarke University women's volleyball team seemed to go a lot like a majority of the season for CU as they dropped that match 3-0 to Mount Mercy University on Tuesday night.
After suffering a large margin of defeat in the opening set 25-16, the Pride would show some fight in a 27-25 second set loss that was unable to be pull off before eventually falling in the third set 25-21.
The Pride struggled from an attacking standpoint as they finished the match with a .083 hitting percentage as MMU only finished at a .145 but came through when it mattered.
The Mustangs also had the top two individual total kill numbers as Mackenzie Murphy finished with a match-high 13 followed closely behind by Maggie Peters, who had 12 kills and a team-high .375 hitting percentage.
For Clarke, Abigail Smith led the team in kills with 10 while also producing 10 digs for just her second double-double of the season as she also hit for a .259 hitting percentage.
Both Rachel Haubert and Rylie Bohanan had double digit digs as well on the defensive side with Haubert adding eight kills and two aces for a 10-point match and Bohanan ending the season on a nine-match streak of double digit digs.
Pride women's volleyball will now head into their first full offseason since the return of head coach Chris Miron with a look to build towards the 2023 season.
