Pride send seniors off with a 3-0 victory over Peru State

DUBUQUE, Iowa - With a 15-match losing streak on their back and a winless conference season so far, the Clarke University women's volleyball team was able to get into the win column for the first time since Sept. 2 as they earned a 3-0 sweep over Peru State College.

The Pride were able to handle the Bobcats in the first set 25-21, comeback from a Peru State double set point to pull out an extra points 27-25 win in the second, the roll in the third to a 25-14 win for their first sweep victory of the season.

CU started their Satruday afternoon match honoring their 2022 senior class as Madison Blohm, Lordiss Burton, Morgan Siriani, and Cora Vyhnanek all represented the 2022 senior class with Danika Griffin and Maddy Melvin being recognized for returning for their fifth year after receiving the 2020-21 season of eligibility back due to the COVID-19 restrictions to scheduling.

For the second-straight match, Rachel Haubert led the way for Clarke on the offensive side as she finished with 12 kills, as she did last night as well, while not producing any attacking errors for a strong .408 hitting percentage.

Both Haubert and fellow outside hitter Jessica Schaad came up one either dig or attack away from a double-double as Schaad finished with nine kills and 10 digs while Haubert came a dig short of the double-double similar to last night's match against Graceland.

Clarke was strong on the block as middle Victoria Patnaude matched her five kills with five block assists while Haubert and Melvin were each in on a pair and Abigail Smith also had a block assist of her own.

Pride women's volleyball will close out the 2022 season with four-straight road matches starting with a final non-conference matchup with William Woods next Friday at 5:00 p.m. CT in Fulton, Mo. before finishing with three-straight Heart road matches.
