Clarke women's volleyball huddled up on the sideline

Pride have tough go against No. 22 Taylor and Indiana-Kokomo

UPLAND, Ind. - Hitting the road for the first time in 2022, the Clarke University women's volleyball team dropped both of their matches in the first day of the Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament hosted by Taylor University on Friday.

The Pride faced the hosts in their opening match of the tournament and feel in straight sets by scores of 25-6, 25-15, and 25-20 while their second match of the day ended in similar fashion as they fell to Indiana University-Kokomo by scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-15.

Both matches saw CU suffer through some offensive inefficiency as the Pride finished their match against Taylor with a .049 hitting percentage and hit .000 against the Cougars of IU-Kokomo as Clarke is still managing through a shorthanded front row in the early going.

A bright spot on the outside was the return of Rachel Haubert to the lineup after missing the season opener as the sophomore 16 kills over five sets played with nine errors over 52 attacks for a .135 hitting percentage on the day. Haubert's debut against Taylor was the strongest showing on the attack for any member of the Pride on the day as she finished with eight kills on 19 attacks with a .211 hitting percentage.

Setter Cora Vyhnanek finished with 20 and 24 assists respectively and libero Rylie Bohanan had 10 digs against Taylor and ended the day with eight digs against IU-Kokomo.

Clarke women's volleyball will be back on the court in Upland, Ind. on Saturday for two more matches in the Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament when they face Lawrence Tech and Spring Arbor.
