Amber Cooksley brings home Heart Attacker of the Week headed into semifinals
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In the midst of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament, Clarke University women's volleyball senior Amber Cooksley earned the Heart's Attacker of the Week after her two-match performance last week to end the regular season and begin the tournament.
The Dubuque native recorded a pair of 17-kill matches against Culver-Stockton University last Tuesday and against Evangel University on Saturday as she was extremely efficient hitting for .351 and .350 percentages respectively. The 17 kills matches a season-high as only other time Cooksley finished with 17 kills this season was in the 2021 season opener back on Aug. 21 against Rochester University.
On the season, Cooksley has the most total kills on the team with 308, averaging about three kills per set on the season while hitting for a .155 hitting percentage on the year as an outside hitter. Playing in full rotation, she is also the team's leader in digs on the year at 254 for a 2.5 digs per set average.
Cooksley and the Pride will continue onto the Heart Tournament Semifinals on Tuesday when they travel to Parkville, Mo. to take on No. 1 seed and NAIA ranked No. 4 Park University at 5:00 p.m. CT.
