Pride women's volleyball bounces back after tough opening set for 3-1 win at Graceland
LAMONI, Iowa - It was a rough start Friday night for the Clarke University women's volleyball team but that didn't stop the Pride from taking a 3-1 victory over Graceland University on the road.
CU dropped the opening set before taking the next three without letting the Yellowjackets even reach 20 points to take home the win with set scores of 16-25, 25-15, 25-8, and 25-17.
There were almost as many errors on the attack by both teams combined as there were kills in the match as both teams had multiple sets of hitting for a negative percentage with both teams hitting below zero in the fourth and final set.
Individually, both Amber Cooksley and Gianna Garza finished with match-highs with 10 kills each both hitting for a plus hitting percentage as Garza only committed two errors on 20 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Pride as they will compete tomorrow afternoon, joining the Clarke Football team in Peru, Neb. to take on Peru State College at 3:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.
