Pride struggle against No. 12 Central Methodist in 3-0 defeat
FAYETTE, Mo. - In their first match away from the Kehl Center in almost two weeks, the Clarke University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to No. 12 Central Methodist University Friday night.
The Eagles earned set wins by final scores of 25-14, 25-20, and 25-14 as the first two sets remained close until about midway through those sets but a 15-1 start in the third was too much to overcome for CU.
As a team, Clarke had more errors on the attack than kills to finish with a -.060 hitting percentage whereas CMU finished at .191 with only 17 errors compared to CU's 29.
Maddy Melvin led the Pride in kills with seven and was one of only two members of the Clarke attack to finish with more kills than attack errors along with Jaida Kroning who had four kills. On the opposing side, Grace Unnvik finished with the match-high in kills for the Eagles with nine kills as Callie Henson finished with six kills and four blocks.
Clarke will have to shake it off quickly as they will compete twice tomorrow afternoon in Marshall, Mo. when they face Missouri Valley at 2 p.m. CT and Bethany College at 4 p.m. CT.
