Pride Men and Women Place 11th at 2022 Heart Outdoor Championships

OSKALOOSA, Iowa – The Clarke University men's and women's track and field program wrapped up competition at the 2022 Heart of America Outdoor Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday, with the men and women teams each placing 11th against the 13-team field. The men scored 13 team points, while the women scored 11.

The Pride saw two of its own medal in their respective events. Sophomore James Vandun was named to his second-straight Heart All-Conference team after taking second in the decathlon with 5,450 points. Vandun won the high jump (1.81-meters) and took second in six other events en route to earning Second Team All-Conference honors. At last year's outdoor conference championship meet, Vandun took third in the same event.

The other member of the Pride track and field team to medal was Noah Church, who finished the 5,000-meter race walk at 23:53.84, coming in third and setting a new personal-best in the event. Church earned Third Team All-Conference honors for the second time in his career, with the first having come at the 2022 Heart Indoor Conference Championships. Teammate Kole Haverly earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors after placing sixth in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line at 57.83, setting a career-best in the event.

On the women's side, Samantha Kane was one of three Pride athletes to earn Honorable Mention All-Conference after taking fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.44-meters, giving the sophomore a new personal-best in the event. Emma Grant and Rory Bickler also earned Honorable Mention honors after Grant took fourth in the pole vault (3.10-meters) and Bickler finished the 10,000-meter race in fifth (41:38.23).
