Bio

Robert Lynch returns to the Clarke University women's soccer coaching staff in 2023 after spending the 2022 season as the head coach of Iowa Wesleyan University's women's soccer team.

While leading the Tigers, Lynch the 2022 team to an 8-8 record, which is the most wins the program had earned since the 2011 season and first record at or above .500 according to IWU's historical data.

Prior to his year at Iowa Wesleyan, Lynch spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the Clarke University women’s soccer program. An Independence, Iowa native, Lynch spent two years prior as a women’s soccer assistant at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. While there, he helped guide Benedictine to back-to-back Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament berths for the first time since 2007. During his time at Benedictine, Lynch also worked at Tri-Cities Soccer Association, where he had a strong emphasis in both youth development and biomechanics.

Prior to that, Lynch served as the head varsity girls soccer coach at Independence High School from 2012-2015, as well as an assistant in 2011. He helped lead Independence to its first-ever state tournament appearance, multiple WAMAC conference titles, and consistently ranking in the state’s top 10 rankings. While in Independence, Robert was actively involved in developing Independence’s youth program, where he hosted multiple camps and clinics.

Robert is also the head varsity girls coach at Dubuque Senior High School, winning MVC Coach of the Year during the 2018 season.

Lynch also holds his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and has worked with multiple high school and collegiate athletic programs.

Lynch received his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Upper Iowa University, and earned his master’s degree in organizational leadership from Clarke University.
