Pride get back to form in 2-0 home win over Mount Mercy

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Coming off of their first loss in the month of October in their last game, the Clarke University women's soccer team get back into the win column on Tuesday night at Burrows Field to the tune of a 2-0 win over Mount Mercy University.

The Pride scored a goal in each half starting with a header goal from senior Morgan Catchur as she was on the receiving end of a cross from Brie Cote for Catchur's fourth goal of the season and Cote's second assist and sixth point of the season.

Clarke would control a majority of the game, including outshooting the Mustangs 24-4, taking six corner kicks to just one for MMU, and just constantly being in Mount Mercy's end over the 90 minutes of the game.

It would be over 70 mintues of game time until the next goal of the game as Emily Marino continued to find the scoring touch as she crossed a ball in the box that led to a hand ball where she would step to the penalty spot and score her third goal of the year and third in the last two home games.

Only needing to make two saves in the game, Pride goalie Faith Krapfl recorded her ninth individual shutout of the 2024 season, breaking the previous single season record for Clarke women's soccer set by both Emily Ferguson in 2001 and Katie Schmidt in 2007 at eight shutouts.

Clarke women's soccer will play their final home game of the 2024 regular season when they host Central Methodist University this Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. CT scheduled kickoff between the Pride and Eagles.
