Pride earn fourth-straight win in 3-0 final over William Woods

DUBUQUE, Iowa - In their final taste of non-conference action for the 2024 regular season, the Clarke University women's soccer team earned their fourth-straight win and remain unbeaten in their last eight contests with a 3-0 victory over William Woods University on Tuesday evening.

The Pride controlled a majority of the play in the first half, including getting on the board early with an eighth minute goal from senior midfielder Morgan Catchur as the Valparaiso, Ind. native cleaned up a rebound off of an initial Laryssa Pritchard shot that was saved by Owls keeper Belle Boschert then bouncing right to an open Catchur for her third-straight game with at least point and her second goal in that span.

That would be the only scoring in the opening 45 minutes despite a large amount of action taking place on the WWU defensive side of the field as Clarke would outshoot the visitors 8-1 in the period with none of those six shots forcing CU keeper Faith Krapfl to need to make a save as all of Krapfl's four saves in the game would come in the second half.

Evening up some of the action in the second half with shots finishing 10-7 still in favor of Clarke, a pair of seniors would add to the Pride lead, first from leading scorer Bailey Wiemann as the Burlington, Iowa native scored a 55th minute goal off of a nice feed from freshman Jayden Black to get Wiemann in alone behind the defense for a first touch shot inside the left post, doubling the CU lead to 2-0.

Nearly five mintues of game time later, one of Clarke's nine corner kicks would lead to senior Juanita Tibocha being fouled inside the box as the Bogotà, Colombia native would get the call to step to the spot to beat Boschert to her right for Tibocha's first goal in her two seasons at Clarke.

Moving to 9-1-3 on the season, Clarke women's soccer closes out their non-conference schedule to continue onto their final five games of the year in the Heart of America Conference with their next game coming this Saturday in the form of Senior Day when they welcome Graceland University to Burrows Field for a 3:00 p.m. CT scheduled kickoff on Oct. 12.
