Three from Pride women's soccer recognized for All-Heart Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three members of the Clarke University women's soccer team have garnered 2023 Heart of America women's soccer awards, as announced by the conference on Friday.

Senior defender Hope Ward and junior midfielder Morgan Catchur were named to the All-Heart Second Team while senior forward Shannon Catchur was named to the All-Heart Third Team, all three received All-Heart honors for the second-straight season with Shannon Catchur being named an All-Conference player for the third-straight year.

Ward, a Burlington, Iowa native, finished the 2023 regular season starting in 17 of the 18 games. Ward played a pivotal role in the Pride's 0.95 goals against average per game, good for third-best mark in the Heart. Ward earned Heart Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18th for scoring two goals in as many games from her defensive position as she used her proficient header to score four goals on the year.

Morgan Catchur, a Valparaiso, Ind. native, was just as influential on the defensive side, playing in her defensive midfield position while also frequently triggering the Pride offense to finish the 2023 regular season with five assists.

Shannon Catchur, a Valparaiso, Ind. native, played and started in all 18 games where she led the Pride's offensive attack with eight goals and was tied for third on the team with four assists as CU scored 33 total goals and averaged 1.83 goals per game as a team.

Clarke University women's soccer is heading down to Marshall, Mo. for the Heart Tournament Quarterfinals to play Missouri Valley College on Saturday, Nov. 4th beginning at 5:00 P.M. CT.
