Pride play to a 2-2 draw against Culver-Stockton

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Excited to get back on the pitch after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of MidAmerica Nazarene University on Saturday, the Clarke University women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw Tuesday evening against Culver-Stockton College.

Scoring her fifth and sixth goal on the season, Pride senior Shannon Catchur scored two goals for the Pride, each coming in the first half. Jamie Albertson and Kaci Hunter were credited with assists on Catchur's first goal with her second being scored as unassisted.

After Clarke's first goal in the 35th minute, Culver-Stockton answered just over two minutes later when Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez found the back of the net off the feed from Morgan Dierks Machado and Mikayla Gioia for her third goal on the season.

Catchur's second goal in the 43rd minute put the Pride up 2-1 at the half, but Culver-Stockton had an 8-4 shot and a 2-0 corner kick advantage.

The second half remained a 2-1 Pride lead and despite more than doubling their first-half shot total, they weren't able to get that third goal to put the Wildcats away.

Culver-Stockton graduate student, Morgan Dierks Machado was fouled in the penalty area in the 87th minute and she was able to beat the Pride goalkeeper for her third goal on the year to even up the score at two apiece.

Pride women's soccer will host the Park Pirates this Saturday, Oct. 14th for senior day with the game kicking off at 3:30 P.M. CST.
