Pritchard's two second-half goals lift Pride over Baker 4-0

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After a scoreless first half the Clarke University women's soccer team (8-0-2, 3-0 Heart) was able to score four times in the final 40 minutes of play to defeat the Baker Wildcats (1-6-1, 0-2 Heart) 4-0 on Saturday evening.

Scoring her first goal since Sept. 3rd, sophomore forward Laryssa Pritchard broke out with two goals that gave Clarke a comfortable 2-0 and 3-0 lead midway through the second half. Pritchard's first goal, coming in the 56th minute, was set up by an anticipating Shannon Catchur pass across the middle, which tallied her fourth assist on the season.

Pritchard's second goal scored in the 67th minute came after Itzel Parga applied heavy pressure in front of the Wildcat net and had a sequence where she stole the ball and fed a net-crashing Pritchard for the three-goal lead.

Starting the scoring off for the Pride, Bailey Wiemann scored her second goal in the last three games in the 50th minute unassisted, giving Wiemann her eighth point of the season.

Picking up her second straight shutout and fourth overall in goal, April Lashomb made one save and improved her goals-against average to 0.51 for the season.

With less than a minute to play, Morgan Catchur hit a free kick into the square where her sister Shannon Catchur was ready for the header and buried it in the back of the net for the game's final goal.

Being peppered with shots all night, Baker goalie Jorja Martin faced 13 shots on goal, 28 total, and made nine saves. The lone shot on goal for the Wildcats came from midfielder Darcy Cato.

The undefeated Pride women's soccer team will next play Friday, Sept. 29th at home against Benedictine College beginning at 6 p.m. CT.
