Lashomb earns second shutout of the season as Pride win 1-0 over Briar Cliff

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Starting their season unbeaten through the first six games for the first time in their 17-year program history, the Clarke University women's soccer team (4-0-2) were able to pick up the 1-0 victory over Briar Cliff University on Thursday afternoon.

Scoring the first of her career and the game-winner for the Pride was sophomore Jaycee Page who buried a bouncing rebound off the foot of teammate Shannon Catchur in the 35th minute.

Struggling to retain ball control, Briar Cliff would attempt two shots in the first half and that would be all the Pride defense would surrender as the Pride would finish with a dominating 16-2 shot edge and a 6-0 corner kick advantage.

Making her lone save opportunity, Pride goalkeeper April Lashomb played all 90 minutes, picking up her second shutout of the season and the sixth of her career. In her four starts this season, Lashomb has given up only two goals and has made eight saves.

Starting in goal for the Chargers, senior Jaime Rowlands gave up her first goal on the season but made six saves in over 58 minutes of playing before being relieved by freshman Kinley Wood. Wood would make three saves over the final 31:26 of game time.

Charger defender, Tia Lisy would pick up two yellow cards within a five-minute span, with the second card leading to a Jamie Albertson penalty kick opportunity in the 52nd minute. Albertson tried to beat Rowlands to her right post, but Rowlands made the diving stop to retain the score at 1-0, which would end as the final score.

Wrapping up their out-of-conference schedule, the Pride women's soccer team will play on the road at Missouri Baptist on Tuesday, September 12th beginning at 7 pm.
