Pride's dominant offense leads to a 5-1 victory over Waldorf University

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Clarke University women's soccer (3-0-2) team put on a dominant performance in the second half leading to four goals on their way to a 5-1 victory over Waldorf University.

Four of the five goal scorers for the Pride scored their first of the season as Hope Ward, Laryssa Pritchard, Samantha Miller, and Itzel Parga each found the back of the net.

Ward, getting the scoring started just over six minutes into the contest, buried a header off a corner kick from fellow defenseman Brie Cote recording Cote's third assist of the year. The Warriors would answer late in the first half after Pride goalie April Lashomb made a lunging save off the foot of Warrior forward Courtnie Turner that would find its way to Paige Spatorico who wouldn't miss the rebound opportunity.

After an 18-5 Pride advantage on shots in the first half, the Pride's offense took over in the second. CU attackers Pritchard and Bailey Wiemann would score within five minutes of each other in both the 51st minute and the 55th minute to take a 3-1 lead. Miller got on the scoreboard in the 68th minute followed by freshman Parga, who scored her first career goal in the 80th minute with both goals being unassisted.

Pride senior attackers Shannon Catchur and Jamie Albertson were each awarded assists on the evening, with Albertson leading the Pride with seven shot attempts.

Clarke would finish this game with some glaring numbers that include a 32-9 shot advantage and a 9-1 corner kick edge.

Picking up her second straight win in net for the Pride, Lashomb picked up where she left off, getting a pair of saves in over 75 minutes of action. Coming in for the remainder of the contest was Faith Krapfl who recorded a save.

On the other side, Waldorf netminder Samantha Linteo played all 90 minutes and recorded 13 saves.

The Pride women's soccer team will play three straight road games starting with Briar Cliff on September 7th, beginning at 1:30 pm.
