Pride play to a scoreless draw against Trinity Christian

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Coming into tonight's game without a loss on the year, the Clarke University women's soccer team dominated the box score but came away with a 0-0 draw Thursday evening against Trinity Christian University.

The first half was a feeling-out process for both teams as they would trade shots, but by the end of the game, all signs were pointing to a Pride win. With a 6-5 shot advantage after the first half, the Pride turned it up with 18 second-half shots, with eight coming from senior Jamie Albertson to lead the squad.

With a high volume of shots in a tie game comes a large number of saves and Trinity Christian goalie Michelle Urribarri played a massive role in tonight's final score. The Orland, Fla. native, Urribarri is coming off an eight-save performance in a 2-1 victory over Lawrence Tech (Mich.). The Pride attack forced Urribarri to make 14 saves after playing the full 90 minutes to keep her Trolls in the game.

The other side of the field wasn't quite as busy as Clarke goalkeeper April Lashomb made her second straight start, playing all 90 minutes and making two crucial saves for her fifth career shutout. Protecting Lashomb, the Pride unit as a whole appeared to be the more physical group and it showed in the stat sheet, finishing with 14 fouls to the Trolls six.

As mentioned earlier, Albertson led the way with eight shots (seven on net), but Morgan Catchur was doing her best to score her first goal of the year, as she finished with five shots (one on net). Her sibling, Shannon Catchur, coming off the first Heart of America Conference Player of the Week, also finished with five shots (three on net).

Offensively for the Trolls, forward Kara Amidon and defenseman Demi Scibetta combined for over half their total team shots as they finished with three apiece.

The Pride women's soccer team will host Waldorf University Sunday, September 3rd starting at 6:00 PM CST.
