Pride Fall to Central Methodist 3-0 in Conference Semis

FAYETTE, Mo. – Looking to keep their tournament hopes alive, the Clarke University women's soccer team fell to top seeded Central Methodist 3-0 on Tuesday evening.

The Pride were able to minimize CMU's scoring chances for much of the first half as they only gave up one shot on goal until the 43rd minute when CMU's Alicia Zamora was able to get a clean look and hit the crossbar amidst a crowd of defenders. Marcella Helena was able to clean up Zamora's shot and score her 14th goal of the season and gave the Eagles a 1-0 advantage going into half.

Three minutes into the second half, CMU scored again to make it 2-0 behind Roneisha Frank's 18th goal of the season. In the 69th minute, CMU put the Pride away on Helena's second goal of the contest and made it 3-0.

Although the Pride limited CMU's chances, the upset-minded Pride were unable to get any scoring chances until the 78th minute, when Morgan Catchur was able to put a free-kick on goal for a save. The Pride's best scoring chance came in the 84th minute, when Laryssa Pritchard was able to get free in front of the net and narrowly missed the net wide left.

This completes the season for Clarke women's soccer as they finish the 2022 campaign at 12-6-2 overall and an 8-4 conference record, which slotted them as the number five seed in the conference tournament.
