Pride Struggle in 3-0 Loss to 12th Ranked Missouri Valley College

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Clarke University women's soccer team fell 3-0 at home on Saturday night against 12th ranked Missouri Valley College.

The Vikings scored their first goal in the seventh minute when Freshman forward Iris Muijrers scored her second of the season and beat Pride goalkeeper Faith Krapfl.

Krapfl got the start in net for the second straight game and was kept busy as she made 12 saves.

The Pride struggled to get offensive chances, but late in the first half, forward Shannon Catchur setup Genevieve Cruz with an open-net, but ended up hitting the crossbar and the Pride would go into half down a goal.

Four minutes into the second half the Vikings would go up 2-0 when another freshman, Carla Carmona, found the back of the net and scored her third goal of the season. The Vikings put the Pride away in the 74th minute when Ashley Arribas scored her fifth goal of the season.

For the Pride, Genevieve Cruz led the way in shots, finishing with five and Hope Ward chipped in two of her own.

The Pride look to get back to their winning ways next Saturday, October 15th in Springfield, Missouri for a noon kick.
