Mesa, Ariz. – The Clarke University women's soccer team was able to capture their first win of the 2022 campaign as they defeated the Park-Gilbert Buccaneers 3-1 Sunday afternoon.
The Pride scored quickly in the first half when sophomore midfielder Sofia Morales scored at the 5:33 mark on the scoreboard. Just over a minute later, junior forward Shannon Catchur scored to give Clarke a 2-0 lead.
The Pride started a new goalkeeper in net as freshman April Lashomb made her first career start saving 4 out of 5 shots on goal. The only goal Lashomb allowed was in the 21st minute when Carmen Kiewert trimmed Clarke's lead to 2-1. Clarke junior Reese Castanon sealed the win with a goal in the 51st minute.
Clarke women's soccer will host Trinity Christian on Friday September 2nd at 6:00 p.m. CDT at Burrows Field.
