Pride women's soccer closer week with 3-1 loss to Dordt

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - In their third game in four days, the Clarke University women's soccer team dropped their second game of the season and snapped their two-game winning streak in their 3-1 loss to Dordt University Saturday afternoon.

The Pride fell behind 2-0 in the first 17 minutes of the first half as Katherine Kooiman and Jori Bronner scored in the 14th and 17th minutes respectively. Both Kooiman and Bronner assisted on the other's goal as they prooved to be a challenging attack for CU to deal with in the game.

Clarke had a handful of chances, including an indirect free kick in the Defenders' box after the DU keeper played a ball played back to her with her hands but was able to make a save to keep it a 2-0 game at the time.

Dordt got the next strike of the game and the first of the second half when Ellie Stuart scored in the 62nd minute to make it 3-0 before Hannah Sacora of the Pride scored in the 76th minute to avoid the shutout and make it a 3-1 final.

Next up for the Pride will be a nine-day layoff from game action before they begin Heart of America Athletic Conference competition on Sept. 14 when they travel to Lamoni, Iowa to face Graceland University at 5:30 p.m. CT.
