Pride wrap up local Duhawk Invite at The Meadows

ASBURY, Iowa - Just halfway through the week's action for one team and closing out regular season action for the other, the Clarke University golf teams closed out a two-day event in the Duhawk Invite hosted by Loras College at The Meadows Golf Course on Monday afternoon.

The low scores of the tournament for the Pride came from Jacob Luett on the men's side as he improved on his first round score by 12 strokes to show a second round 71 (-1) to finish in a tie for 15th with a two-round total of 154 then on the women's side, Gabby Weyland finished in a tie for 32nd out of 51 individuals with her low round coming in the first where she shot a 98.

The remainder of the women's lineup saw Jessi Wagner and Halle Boldt finish with similar scores between Sunday and Monday's rounds as both Maddie Patten and Camdyn Penick both had better round two scores compared to their Sunday rounds. Maya England, Katherine Whitson, and Allea Stone all competed as individuals for CU as they finished in 46th, 47th, and 48th respectively with just seven strokes separating the trio.

Back on the men's side, Logan Winn carded matching scores of 79 in each round, Jared Martinson went 81-80 (161), Jesse Frye improved by five shots between the first and second round for his 163, and Alijah Dopson bounced back from a rough Sunday to match Winn's 79 on Monday.

Clarke's B unit of Francis Resurreccion (88-80=168), Anthony Eddy (88-83=171), Hayden Hoekstra (89-83=172), Drake Hammel (87-85=172), and Mitchel Coffey (86-87=173) all finished with scores close to one another to finish in 12th as a team.

Pride women's golf is the team that is completed with their regular season as their next competition will be at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship next week in Moravia, Iowa as the men's team will continue on with another two-day tournament starting tomorrow when they head to Iowa City, Iowa to compete in the Verhille Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course.
