Pride bowling finishes up first tournament of November at Leatherneck Classic

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Continuing on with their 2021-22 fall slate of tournaments, the Clarke University bowling teams wrapped up their first tournament of November at the Leatherneck Classic on Sunday.

The Pride women finished right around the middle of their field with a 17th place finish out of 35 teams as the Pride men finished in 29th place at the completion of their competition.

The women finsihed the team games at a pin count of 5624 before heading into the baker games where they scored 2568 to total 8192 pins as a team. For the men, they went from a 5699 team score to adding 2937 pins through the baker games to finish at 8636 total pins to finish the team competition.

Individually, Brendan Holl once again shined as a top-10 finisher after an eighth place performance totaling 1346 pins over his six games for an average of 224.7 pins per game. His tournament-high was in his opener after bowling a 279 in game one, he also broke 200 in all but one of his games with a 243, two 202s, and a 232 to finish up game six.

Will Clark had an off and on tournament with three games over 200 and three games under 200 to finish in 72nd at a total of 1217 for a 202.8 pins per game average. Jordan Grogas finished at 1047 pins over six games, Tanner Webb bowled in five games for a 987 pin count, Adante Jones finished at 535 pins after three games bowled, Mannix Amos finished with 418 over three games, and Alex Kubitz contributed a 149 in a single game.

The women's individuals were led by Amber Bertschinger's 1194 total pins in 25th place after her average of 199 pins per game. Bertschinger's best game came in her fifth as she scored a 268, over 60 pins higher than her next best game as she finished with a 203 and 202 as her next best scores.

Kassidy Gerken was the next highest score for the Pride as she finished with a 1151 as her best game came in her third with a 211. Brooke Puckett also had a 211 as she finished with a total of 1122, Ragan Carey had a strong 236 in her third game to finish with 1084 total pins, and Mackenzie Blagojevic finished her tournament with a 1073 total pin count.

Next up for the Clarke bowling teams will be a trip to St. Charles, Mo. for the Clash of Spartans tournament on Nov. 20 and 21.
