Bio

Adam Hocking was promoted to head coach of Pride women's basketball in the spring of 2023 after eight years as assistant and head men's golf coach at Clarke, helping guide the Pride to five-straight NAIA Tournament appearances, back-to-back quarterfinal trips in 2019 and 2021, and the NAIA Championship in 2023.

Hocking was a named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Assistant Coach of the Year following the 2021-22 season where the Pride earned the Heart's Regular Season and Tournament Championships.

He was also a vital role in the 2022-23 NAIA Tournament Championship run that saw the Pride win all six of their games in the tournament by an average of over 11 points that included four double digit wins including a 25-point win in their quarterfinal game to advance to the program's first semifinals.

Clarke broke the program record for wins in a season in 2018-19, finishing 23-12, and made its first-ever NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Championship appearance.  The Pride advanced to the Quarterfinal Round after posting wins over No. 1 seed and third-ranked Columbia (Mo.) and No. 4 seed and fourteenth-ranked Shawnee State.  Clarke's team was recognized with three Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference selection and one NAIA second-team All-American.  The Pride boasted a 3.32 team grade point average.

Hocking helped the the 2017-18 Pride squad to 20 wins, which tied the school record. The Pride had three members receive All-Conference honors, one named Conference Defensive Player of the Year, another named Conference Freshman of the Year, and one member named Honorable Mention All-American. The team was also recognized as a NAIA Scholar Team with a cumulative 3.34 GPA.

Clarke's 2016-2017 Clarke women’s basketball team fashioned a 20-11 record, which tied for fourth place in the conference. The 2015-2016 team finished with a 19-13 record including a trip to the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament. During his time at Clarke, Hocking has coached the reigning Heart of American Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, four All-Conference players and two All-Americans.

Hocking came to Clarke from Edgewood College, where he served as assistant women's basketball coach from 2013-2015. The Eagles' 2013-14 team fashioned a 15-12 record.

Prior to his stint at Edgewood, Hocking served as head varsity girls' basketball coach at Southwestern High School from 2011-2013.  At Southwestern, Hocking coached former Clarke women's basketball player Katelyn Hoppman.

Hocking currently coaches with the Tri-State Frenzy Girls AAU Basketball Program, and he previously coached AAU Girls Basketball with Wisconsin Hoops Select, Iowa Team Fury and Wisconsin Swing (2010-2015). Hocking has been an offseason player development camp director with Midwest Elite Basketball since 2013.

Hocking played collegiate football and baseball at University of Dubuque (2010-2013) and at Iowa Wesleyan (2009-2010).

A product of Galena High School, Hocking earned all-conference and all-area honors in baseball, basketball, football and track.

Hocking earned his bachelor degree in health, wellness & recreation from the University of Dubuque and his masters degree in education from Edgewood College.
