Pride suffer first loss of 2024-25 on the road at Benedictine

ATCHION, Kan. - Following the rare basketball postponement of their Wednesday night game, the Clarke University women's basketball team got back to action on Saturday as they fell 100-70 to Benedictine College on the road.

A rough start to the game for the Pride allowed Benedictine to jump out to a double digit lead with just under 4:40 to go in the first quarter at 18-6 as the Ravens would close out the quarter at a 28-11 advantage to continue to grow their lead in each ensuing quarter with small quarter advantages but enough to end in a 30-point win.

Benedictine held their advantage down low as they outscored CU 38-14 in the paint and outrebounded the Pride 51-30 that included a 16-1 offensive rebound advantage leading to second chance points going 18-2 in favor of BC.

Clarke did have the game's leading scorer as sophomore Zoe Kennedy finished with a new career-high 36 points on 12-of-17 (70.6%) shooting from the field, 5-of-8 (62.5%) shooting from three point range, and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.

Hailey Walters was the only other member of the Pride in double figures with 10 but scoring depth wasn't a problem for the Ravens as they finished with five in double figures led by 20 from Josie Weishaar as all six of her made field goals came from three point range.

The four other Benedictine players in double digits were Jennifer Jacobs with 16, Lauryn Dubbert with 12, Carmen Morales with 12, and Nicole Stork with 10 as Stork led the game in rebounding with an 11-rebound performance for a double-double.

Clarke women's basketball will be at home for their next four games starting in two weeks with Thanksgiving week off they'll next play on Tuesday, Dec. 3 when they host Culver-Stockton College for a 5:30 p.m. CT scheduled opening tip in the Kehl Center.
