Taylor Haase goes back-to-back with Heart Player of the Week honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In the midst of a 6-0 start to their 2023-24 season, the Clarke University women's basketball team had their third-straight selection of a Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Week as Taylor Haase earned the honor for the second-straight week.

Haase led the Pride to a 65-59 non-conference win over Columbia College last Tuesday where she recorded her second double-double of the season with 16 points and a career-high 20 rebounds while adding a career-high five blocks on the defensive end.

Both the 20 rebounds and five blocks place the senior from Freedom, Wis. in the Clarke record books as the rebounding performance was just the eighth time in program history for a player to record 20 rebounds and the first time it's been accomplished since 2009 while the five blocks ties Haase for fifth all-time at Clarke and is just the 15th time an individual has finished a game with five or more blocked shots.

Currently leading the team in scoring at 16.7 points per game, Haase has scored in double figures in each of the Pride's six games to start the season while shooting 45.2 percent from the field and averaging nine rebounds and over two blocked shots per game as the three averages would be significant career-highs in her first season as the starting post player for CU.

This is now the third Heart Player of the Week honor for a member of the Clarke women's basketball team in three weeks of the award has been selected since the start of the season as senior guard Nicole McDermott earned the first honor of the season before these back-to-back wins for Haase.

The Pride will be back to action this week starting with a road game in the Heart with a trip to Lamoni, Iowa to face Graceland University for a 2:00 p.m. CT tip against the Yellowjackets on Thursday, Nov. 30.
