Pride Celebrate Senior Day with 75-48 Win Over Park

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Clarke University women's basketball celebrated its four seniors with a 78-45 victory over the Park University Pirates on Saturday at the Kehl Center.

After the game, the Pride honored Cambrii Alexander, Rebecca Schroeder, Elyssa Stein and Hannah Ambrosy in the ceremony. The four seniors walked with their parents to halfcourt before being greeted by head coach Country Boyd, the coaching staff, and the team.

With the win, the Pride improve to 22-4 in the regular season and 13-2 in conference play, while Park stands 8-12 and 2-12.

Taylor Haase led Clarke with 16 points after shooting a nearly perfect six-of-seven from the field. She was followed by Hannah Ambrosy with 15 points and Nicole McDermott with 13. Emma Kelchen led the team in rebounding with eight, followed by Haase and McDermott with six apiece.

Ambrosy drained a three for CU's first points of the game at the 7:32 mark. The Pride used a 10-0 run following that opening trey to lead it 13-0 with 3:30 to play in the first. Park got on the board 30 seconds later when Makayla Artis split a pair of free throws. The Pride closed out the quarter with a 7-2 run to lead it 20-3.

Clarke opened up the second quarter with a 15-1 scoring run over the first six minutes to lead by 31 (35-4). Baskets by Victoria Cuevas, Aiko Lane, and Cautia Wadood fueled a 10-1 Pirate scoring run that brought the game within 21 points (35-14) at the half.

Clarke scored the first eight points of the second half over the first three minutes. Park's offense struggled throughout the quarter as it managed to just hit six of its 18 shots attempts and turned the ball over five times en route to trailing 55-27.

In the fourth quarter, the Pride continued to maintain their lead, taking as big of a lead as 39 points. Haase provided much of the fourth-quarter offense with eight points in the final 10 minutes to help close out the game 78-45. 

Up next, the Pride will host Peru State for a conference clash on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Tip-off in the Kehl Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT.
