Second half surge carries Clarke to 22-point win at Culver-Stockton

CANTON, Mo. - Following a week break for finals, the Clarke University women's basketball team returned to action in a big way to a 76-54 win on the road over Culver-Stockton.

The Pride outscored the Wildcats in three of the four quarters but the two teams were locked into a 30-30 tie at the halftime break before CU ran away in the second half.

Clarke outscored Culver-Stockton 24-14 and 22-10 in the third and fourth quarters, including a 12-0 run to start the third quarter to pull ahead 42-30 before CSC could even get on the board in the second half.

Both Nicole McDermott and Emma Kelchen put up double-doubles for the Pride as McDermott led all scorers with 22 points while adding 10 rebounds as Kelchen finished with a 12-and-12 game. Tina Ubl was the only other player for CU in double figures as she also finished with 12 points with Giana MichelsTaylor Haase, and Hannah Ambrosy all added seven points each.

For the Wildcats, Taylor Green and Aaliyah Ortiz finished with 11 and 10 points respectively but the entirety of the Culver-Stockton lineup struggled from the field, finishing the game shooting 37.3 percent.

Pride women's basketball will finish Heart play for the caldendar year next Thursday when they host Mount Mercy University at the Kehl Center on Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m. CT.
