Late runs push Missouri Valley to wins over Pride

MARSHALL, Mo. - Making up games originally scheduled to be played in Dubuque, the Clarke University softball team lost both games to Missouri Valley College on Thursday afternoon in Marshall, Mo.

The Vikings earned 10-0 and 5-0 wins as they scored eight of their 10 in the opener in the final three innings then four of their five runs in the finale in the top of the seventh to pull away.

For CU in the first game, they were only able to produce one hit as they poked seven hits out in the finale but were just unable to push any runs across against MVC pitchers Kim Horsten and Paige Rademann.

In the circle for the Pride, Kila Carbine and Aris Tyler allowed six of the 10 runs to be earned on 11 hits with a combined five strikeouts as Malarie Huseman went a complete game in teh finale as she allowed 11 hits and one walk while striking out one.

Clarke softball will head to Fayette, Mo. for the final day of their three-day road trip when they face Central Methodist University on Friday for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m. CT.
