Pride fall twice to Park by 7-1 and 8-0 finals

PARKVILLE, Mo. - Looking to salvage some wins on the week, the Clarke University softball team was unable to get on track on Saturday as Park University was able to earn 7-1 and 8-0 wins in Parkvillem Mo.

The offense continued to struggle for CU as they managed a total of seven hits across the two games and did score the first run of the day on a first inning passed ball in the opener but were unable to score over the following 11 innings on the day.

The Pirates were able to tie the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the second of the opener before pulling away late in the game with two runs in the fifth inning and a four-spot in the sixth.

Big innings were key for Park in the second game as they jumped out with three runs off of Aris Tyler in the first and another five in the third to eventually win in five innings via the run rule.

Tyler and game one starter Malarie Huseman pitched all of their respective games as Tyler struck out two batters in her outing while Huseman finished with four strikeouts with only two of her runs allowed coming as earned runs.

The Pride will return home to prepare for their final two games of this eight-game road stretch with a doubleheader at Mount Mercy on Wednesday, Apr. 6 before hosting three-straight home doubleheaders starting on Thursday.
