Pride Finish Season Strong at Conference Championships
DES MOINES, Iowa - The Clarke University cross country team completed their season on a rainy Saturday at the Heart of America Conference Championships with a ninth-place finish for the women and a 10th place finish for the men.
The Pride women finished ninth as a team out of 13 competing teams as they were led by Jaycie Franco who finished in 26th place with a time of 20:38.3. Rory Bickler finished just behind Franco in 31st with a time of 20:53.19. Trinity Kessler finished at 59th with a time of 22:27.39.
The team score for CU was rounded out by Isabel Manning's 22:35.67 for a 64th place finish, Lydia Radeke's 22:49.66 for 67th place, and Emily Onken's 23:21.20 for 76th place.
The Pride men finished in 10th out of 13 competing teams as they had a trio finish in the top 50. Emmett Schwartzhoff finished in 35th place with a time of 27:38.27. Carson Sansenbach finished in 40th with a time of 27:58.18. Bryce Kondos finished in 42nd with a time of 28:01.43.
The team score for CU was rounded out by two sub-30 times and one 31-minute finisher as Daniel Miller finished in 29:11.54, Benjamin Vasquez finished in 29:44.54, and Kole Haverly finished in 31:01.18.
Most of the Pride cross country runners will now prepare to transition into their track and field season.
