
Pride fall to No. 6 Grand View in road matchup
DES MOINES, Iowa - Playing their first Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division rematch of the 2025 season, the Clarke University men's volleyball team dropped their Tuesday night match on the road to No. 6 Grand View University by a final match score of 3-0.
The Vikings had a strong showing in their second matchup against the Pride this season winning each set by 11 or more points with final set scores of 25-14, 25-12, and 25-10 while hitting for a team hitting percentage of .589 in the match with 39 kills on 56 attempts with only six hitting errors while finishing each set with at least a .500 or better and no more than three errors in any set.
Clarke's attack was led by a 10-for-19 night from senior Justin Hernandez as he finished with a .421 hitting percentage and a solo block for 11 of the team's 25 points scored while Tanner May and Noah Whalen added five and four kills respectively for CU.
Grand View's Daniel Galili had 11 kills on 14 attempts with two errors for a .643 with Ryan Griffel hit .545 with eight kills, Andre Leandro, Leonardo Annichini, and Malakai Christian both had no errors with Leandro finishing at eight kills, Annichini having seven, and Christian going a perfect 4-for-4.
The Vikings were able to score 11 points on service aces and add four solo blocks to produce 54 of their 75 points scored in the match as Annichini and Griffel combined for nine of those aces and Leandro and Christian had all four blocks between the pair.
Pride men's volleyball will stay on the road for the rest of the week first with another Heart North rematch when they head to Lamoni, Iowa on Friday, Mar. 14 to face Graceland University for a scheduled 7:00 p.m. CT first serve.
