Pride fall in three sets to Missouri Valley

MARSHALL, Mo. – Starting off their weekend trip to Mo. with a game against Missouri Valley College, the Clarke University men's volleyball team struggled to get momentum losing all three sets.

After committing eight errors in set one, the Pride would bounce back in the next two sets only committing four the rest of the way. Unfortunately, the Vikings would dominate set one and have a hitting percentage in set two of .571 propelling them to two set advantage.

In set three, the Pride saw their 19-17 lead disappear as the Vikings would score the next four points to take a 21-19 lead. Hoping to force a fourth set, the Pride would rally back to force a 22-22 tie, but the Viking attack proved too much as they would ultimately fall 25-23 in set three.

Leading the way for the Vikings was Frederico Baptista who had 14 kills on 20 attacks. His counterpart, Andre Leandro had 10 kills on 17 attacks. Lucas Rodrigues led with 23 assists and Pedro Pilli finished with 18.

For the Pride, Tye Ojala and Stephen Lewandowski both finished with six kills as Lewandowski had a kill percentage of .333. Justin Hernandez chipped in four kills of his own on 14 swings. Erik Schmidt led with 21 assists.

Pride men's volleyball will stay in Mo. and play Culver-Stockton College Saturday starting at 2 pm CST.
