Pride fall on the road to Mustangs 3-0

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Looking to get back in the win column, the Clarke University men's volleyball team fell short in their second match of the season against Mount Mercy University, suffering their second sweep at the hands of the Mustangs this season.

The 3-0 win for MMU was in jeopardy in the first set as the Pride held an 18-15 lead towards the later stages but a well used timeout from the Mustangs followed by a 6-0 run swung the match back in their favor to 21-18 as they pushed to a 24-21 lead before Clarke cut it close at 24-23 but Mount Mercy finished off their regulation win by the minimum to go up 1-0 in the match.

The Mustangs would then go on to take the next two sets by matching 25-18 scores to close out their second sweep of Clarke this season and move to 14-4 overall and 9-4 inside of the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Clarke had one of the match leaders in kills with 12 from Justin Hernandez and Tye Ojala had a solid 10 to back him up as CU had more players in double figures for kills than Mount Mercy who only had Brian Lynch also finished with 12 kills.

The Pride will have an extra day away from matches with today's match being rescheduled to a Monday night before they host their final home weekend starting with a Friday night match against Missouri Baptist in the Kehl Center for a 7:00 p.m. CT first serve.
