Pride fall in sweep to William Penn to end homestand

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Wrapping up their first swing around the Heart of America Athletic Conference schedule, the Clarke University men's volleyball team fell in three sets to William Penn University on Tuesday night in the Kehl Center.

The Statesmen earned set wins by either nine or eight points as they hit for over .250 in each set, including a strong .579 hitting percentage in the second set as the set scores went 25-16, 25-17, and 25-17.

William Penn's Landon Krause was the only player on either team to have double digit kills as he finished with the match-high 14 kills with only two errors on 20 swings for a .600 hitting percentage. Eli Herro and Ike Papes added 15 kills combined with Papes added nine kills and Herro finished 6-for-10 with no errors also for a .600 hitting percentage.

For the Pride, Tye Ojala led the offensive attack with seven kills on 15 attempts for a .267 hitting percentage as both Timothy Meyer and Zachary Barr added five kills with Justin Hernandez finishing with four from the right side.

Clarke will spend the next two days away from match competition to prepare for a two-day road trip to face Park University and Graceland University on Friday and Saturday this weekend.
