Lewandowski's near perfect night highlights Pride's sweep win over Culver-Stockton

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Following a tough, five-set loss last night, the Clarke University men's volleyball team earned a decisive 3-0 win on Saturday night over Culver-Stockton College in the Kehl Center.

The Pride dominated the first set with a .429 hitting percentage to a 25-10 win as the Wildcats made it a closer battle in the second and third sets at 25-19 and 25-20 to complete the sweep.

History was nearly made by senior middle Stephen Lewandowski as he finished with 12 kills on 13 swings with a single error for a .843 hitting percentage, one kill away from the first perfect 1.000 hitting percentage with over 10 kills in program history. Lewandowski had a similar match on the attack last season, going 14-for-15 without an error last season against UHSP as tonight he started 10-for-10 and also added five total blocks including a solo, making both his kills and total points a season-high.

Justin Hernandez on the right side and Timothy Meyer on the left side had highly efficient nights from the outside as Hernandez went errorless with seven kills on 15 swings for a .467 percentage while Meyer only had one error on 11 swings for five kills and a .364 hitting percentage.

Nick Palatine led the defensive back row effort with a strong 15 digs with no errors on serve receive while Erik Schmidt came three digs shy of his second-straight double-double, finishing with 31 assists and seven digs.

Clarke will finish a three-match homestand next Tuesday when they host William Penn University in a Heart of America Athletic Conference match in the Kehl Center for a 7:00 p.m. CT first serve.
