Bio

Burkholder is entering his first season as the throws coach at Clarke. He was at Iowa Central CC for the last four years, and head coach at Iowa Central for the last two seasons. While at Iowa Central the team won two National Championships, had two Runner Up finishes, and two third place finishes. The tritons also captured 11 Regional Championships  and two second place finishes.

Burkholder was named the USTFCCCA National Men’s Coach of the Year (2020), National Championship Coach of the Meet (2020), Midwest Region Head Men’s Coach of the Year (2020, 2021), Midwest Region Head Women’s Coach of the Year (2020) and the ICCAC Coach of the Year (2020, 2021).  He has also been named the Midwest Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the year twice (2018, 2019) and Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year once (2019).

During his four years at Iowa Central Burkholder the throwers had 6 individual National Champions, 41 All-Americans, 32 Region XI Champions, and 78 National Qualifying performances. His throwers also set a new Region XI Record in the Men’s Hammer and Women’s Weight, Women's Shot,  throw and have earned Regional Athlete of Year awards eight times.

Before coming to Iowa Central Burkholder Coached at Siena Heights University. While there he helped Kasey Renshaw to a 5th place finish at the USA Indoor National Championships in the weight throw with a mark of 70’10”. Haley Hudson also qualified for the Deaf Olympics in the shot put, and broke the Deaf American and Collegiate records in the shot put. During those two years he also coached one National Champion, 12 All-Americans, 36 National Qualifiers, and 11 Conference Champions with 33 All-Conference performances. The throwers also set six new school records, two conference records, and one National record.

Burkholder earned his B.A. in Kinesiology and Psychology from Loras College, and his M.A. in Leadership: Higher Education from Siena Heights University.
