Adams earns Heart accolade after national-qualifying high jump

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the first time during the 2023-24 indoor track and field season, a Clarke University track and field student-athlete earned an individual honor from the Heart of America Athletic Conference as freshman Daniel Adams earned the Heart's Field Athlete of the Week honor on Monday.

Adams earned this honor for his 2.02-meter clearance in the high jump at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday as he cleared it on his first jump to notch NAIA B Standard qualification to the championship meet and failed in his three attempts to clear the A Standard of 2.05 meters but still won the event.

The Muscatine, Iowa native also sprints for the Pride as he competed in the 60-meter hurdles to a third place finish at Platteville with his 8.57-second time but that time did not contribute to his selection to the Heart Field Athlete of the Week.

Adams and the Pride now prepare for the Heart Championships that will take place this Friday and Saturday when they travel to Maryville, Mo. at Northwest Missouri State University's indoor track and field facility.
