Pride Win Three Events at Viking Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Clarke University track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Viking Relays on Saturday with three first-place finishes. 

On the women's side, Rory Bickler won her first collegiate 10,000-meter race after setting a personal best with a time of 40:45.32, which also set a new school record. Bickler's victory was followed up by Emma Grant's, who placed first overall in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 9' 2.25" (2.80m). Grant also placed fourth in the long jump, finishing with a mark of 14' 10.75" (4.54m).

Samantha Kane led the Clarke women's hammer throwers with a fifth-place finish, throwing for a mark of 151' 11" (46.31m).  

Over on the men's side, Timothy Miller won the pole vault competition for the second time in his career after clearing 12' 5.5" (3.80m). Miller got his winning mark in the first attempt at that height, besting his teammate James Vandun by just over a foot-and-a-half (3.35m / 10' 11.75"). 

Noah Church started the outdoor season off on the right foot with a school record in the 5,000-meter race walk, Church clocked in a time of 25:40.03, which placed him fourth among the competition and gave the sophomore a new school record. 

Daniel Miller took second overall in the 800-meter race, clocking in at a time of 2:05.07. 

Up next, the Pride will head to Platteville, Wis., to participate in the Pioneer Open on Saturday, April 2.
