Church Breaks School Record at Saturday's Walter Cramer Invitational
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Clarke Pride track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Walter Cramer Invitational, hosted by Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday. The Pride tallied eight top 10 finishes, a school record, and multiple personal bests. No team scores were kept at the meet.
The men's team saw junior Noah Church break his own school record in the 3,000-meter race walk after clocking in at time of 15:08.96, placing him second. Church's previous school record of 15:32.45 was set at the Fighting Bee Invitational on Jan. 29.
In the men's 600-meter race, Kole Haverly set a personal best with a time of 1:26.16, placing the freshman out of Anamosa, Iowa, in third place. Teammate James Vandun took 12th in the same race after running 1:31.90, setting a new PR.
Sage Hoyt continued a strong start to the season in the high jump after placing seventh in the event with a mark of 1.76m (5' 9.25"), which set a new PR for the freshman.
Addie Hickey and Samantha Kane led the Pride in the weight throw with two top 10 finishes. Hickey finished sixth with a mark of 13.45m (44' 1.5") while Kane also finished ninth after throwing for 12.85m (42' 2").
Over in the women's shot put, Kane set a PR after hitting 11.28m (37' 0.25") to place sixth. Marlie Beauchem was the next-closest Pride finisher after the freshman took 13th with a mark of 9.89m (32' 5.5").
Emma Grant placed sixth in the women's pole vault after clearing 2.97m (9' 9").
The Pride will be back in action on Feb. 12 at the UW-Platteville Invitational in Platteville, Wis.
