Munoz scores twice in Pride 3-3 draw at Benedictine

ATCHISON, Kan. - Taking a return trip to the Kansas City area for the second-straight Saturday, the Clarke University men's soccer team played to a 3-3 draw at Benedictine College on Saturday afternoon.

The Pride jumped ahead early in the game getting a goal from Luis Mejia off of an Xzavier Campa assist in the 13th minute before getting the first of two penalty kick goals from Javi Munoz in the 21st minute to make it a 2-0 lead for CU that would hold until the halftime break.

Even quicker into the second half than Clarke's first half start, the Ravens came with a barrage of three goals in just under six and a half minutes when they got their first goal from Juanes Hernandez in the 49th minute off of an assist from Manuel Abello before he equalized in the 51st minute on a penalty kick to make it 2-0 just under seven minutes into the second frame.

About four minutes after the equalizing goal, Benedictine would take their first lead of the game when Christian Lewis got the third goal of the game for BC from a Nima Samadian assist to make it a 3-2 game with 35 minutes left in the game.

The Ravens would hold that lead all the way until the 73rd minute when the Pride would earn their second penalty kick of the game where Munoz would step to the spot once again to bury his second of the game, making the game the 3-3 score it would eventually end at.

Clarke men's soccer will return home for their next game when they host their Homecoming matchup against Missouri Baptist University at Burrows Field on Saturday, Oct. 18 for a scheduled 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff.
