Medrano keeps Pride men's soccer Player of the Week streak going with first career Offensive nod

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the third-straight week, a member of the Clarke University men's soccer team has earned the Heart of America Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week as junior forward Hector Medrano received the honor on Monday afternoon, Heart officials announced.

Medrano, a native of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, netted two goals in the Pride's 4-0 win at Benedictine College last Friday as the first came in the first half on a header off of a corner kick from Alfonso Gonzalez to put CU up 2-0 at that point as he would add the lone second half goal, tapping in nice feed from Luke Persenico within the six-yard box for the fourth and final goal of the game.

Now at eight goals on the year, Medrano is second on the Clarke men's soccer team in goals this season while also adding two assists to help provide another primary option for the Pride who average over three goals per game in 12 games this season, scoring three or more goals in their last five games and scoring four or more goals in a game six times this year.

Medrano joins Persenico as members of the Pride to earn Heart Offensive Player of the Week with Persenico earning the honor over the last two weeks as CU touts 11 players with two or more points on the season for their 22nd-best 109 points on the season as their 41 goals puts them in 17th place in the NAIA.

Clarke men's soccer will close out their home schedule with a pair of contests at Burrows Field this week, starting off this Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. CT kickoff against Mount Mercy University on Oct. 23.
