Powless earns Heart 2025 season honors for second-straight season
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Following the conclusion of the 2025 regular season, the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced their All-Conference Teams as well as individual awards winners on Friday afternoon with Clarke University senior Doug Powless being named to the All-Heart Second Team.
Powless, from Six Nations, Ontario, Canada, led the Pride in caused turnovers (39) and ground balls (51) working as a long pole defender during the 2025 season to earn a spot on the All-Heart Second Team following his first season at CU earning the Heart Newcomer of the Year award as an attacking player after having a 33-point season and leading the team in assists.
The 39 caused turnovers in 2025 set the new Clarke men's lacrosse season record in his lone season primarily playing defense, as previously mentioned Powless spent the majority of the 2024 year on offense while swapping the short stick for the long pole on occasion but not very frequently as he had 14 caused turnovers and 29 ground balls in 2024 to finish with a two-season career total of 53 caused turnovers and 80 ground balls.
The Pride defense held opponents to single digit goal totals in five different games and Powless had multiple caused turnovers in all but three games this season, including a program record eight caused turnovers on Mar. 22 in a 12-5 Clarke win over Midland where he also grabbed 10 ground balls as he also only had two games without multiple ground balls in a game.
