Pride suffer loss in first road game of 2025 at Edgewood

VERONA, Wis. - Back in action five days following their 2025 season opener, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team opened up a five-game span of road games with a 16-9 loss at Edgewood College on Friday night.

The Eagles got on the board early and added two more before CU could get on the board with a 3-0 lead over the first seven minutes of the first quarter before Dominic Knazur got the Pride on the board scoring off of an assist from Isaac Margala.

Alex Beard would get on the board to cut the lead to 3-2 for Edgewood but EC would add another goal before the quarter would end to double their lead then double it again by outscoring Clarke 4-2 again in the second quarter to lead 8-4 at the half as the one-goal deficit would be the closest CU would get for the remainder of the game.

A low scoring third quarter saw each team score a goal before Edgewood would pull away with a 7-4 fourth quarter that would include scoring five-straight goals with the score at 11-8 to grow the Eagles' lead to the game's largest at 16-8.

Eight different members of the Pride tallied a goal led by a two-goal game from Xavier Howard as Margala also scored a goal to add to his early assist while Justyse White and Matt Archer both had a goal and an assist by the game's end.

Edgewood was led by a four-goal performance by Lake Rewey with three of his four goals coming in the second half while Ryan Tolbert added a hat trick for the Eagles against CU's Jack Fritz who made 18 saves on 34 shots on goal against compared to a trio of EC goalies facing 21 shots on goal against.

Pride men's lacrosse will head into next week for another two-game week starting on Wednesday, Mar. 5 with another trip to Wisconsin, this time Ashland to face Northland College for a 3:00 p.m. CT scheduled opening faceoff.
