Pride struggle offensively, fall 10-4 on Senior Night

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Looking to bounce back from Tuesday's loss at St. Ambrose, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team were unable to celebrate their seniors with a win as they struggled offensively in a 10-4 loss Thursday evening against Midland.

After being outshot 48-33, the Pride were only able to score once each quarter, while the Warriors were just a bit more successful scoring at least twice in each. Senior Alec Kolander was a bright spot on senior night as he would finish the evening with three goals on 14 shots. His senior teammates Connor Cole finished with two assists and Tucker Aeschliman was 8-16 in the faceoff circle.

After being down 4-1 in the second quarter, Matt Archer scored his fifth goal on the season from Nick Lindsay and his fifth helper on the year. The Pride would go into the half trailing 5-2, but would try to gain momentum as Kolander scored just 45 seconds into the start of the third. Midland would prevent Clarke from getting back into it and would score five of the next six goals to end the game 10-4.

Both goalkeepers, CJ Salinas for the Warriors and Jack Fritz for the Pride would save 12 shots as Fritz saw 22 come his way.

Leading offensively for the Warriors was Nick Luedke who scored four times on 13 shots and had three ground balls. Sayer Kuenzi scored three times on nine shots and had seven ground balls. Joshua Pereira, Dominic Jochim, and Keegan Lindsay each scored once.

Pride men's lacrosse will have nine days to get right before they travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa for a game against William Penn on April 8th starting at 3:00 pm.
